Was talking to Jeff at Cartronics a couple weeks ago and he has sold a bunch of 2012 750 EPS Brutes. People are bginning to wake up and see what a great machine they are. He says they have been selling them for $8999.00. MSRP is $11,699.00 and not a single issue reported back, including mine now at 1700km's.

Really curious on the BF and how you like it, now that you have had it a few years. Can you give me the good, bad and ugly on them?

I have sold my Brute last year and now have a 2014 Grizzly 700 SE.

Nothing wrong with the Brute at all. I just had a hankerin for a new Grizzly.

I had just under 3000km's on the Brute when I sold it and had not had any issues at all with it. A really strong fast engine and great handling machine. A bit of a stiff ride compared to the Grizzly but not a big deal.

The Good
- Power and torque
- Ease of Cleaning and maintenance (Air filter access, rad cleaning etc...)
- Lots of Storage Area's
- Handling was great. very light machine with all that power.
- Cost
- Maintenance costs were not bad compared to some other brands.
- Nothing sounds as good as a V-twin Brute 750 right out of the box.
- Power steering system is great.
- Individual brakes levers for front and rear.
- Strong engine braking
- The Brute could go pretty deep in stock form. I never had any belt slippage.

The Bad
- Lots of exposed electrics under the seat. I never had any problems but with all the mud and water they are exposed to, I think it would have only been a matter of time before something goes. Very difficult to clean.
- I never had any problems, but lots of people had issues with the 2/4 WD System. (ie, not changing or taking a long time to switch)

The Ugly
- If I ever think of anything I will put it here.

My Ride: 2013 King Quad 750
Thanks for the review 17A. As always, I love to hear the reviews from actual riders rather than reading canned reviews online.

The last bike I had was a Honda Rincon and I also had zero issues after 10,000miles...great bike and I would have loved another one but they just haven't changed since 2007. I wanted something different and reliable so I bought a king quad 750 and can't be happier.

That said, I'm starting to eye up my next bike and it might just be a BF. - thanks again !

Right on.

If you do get a new Brute you won't be disappointed.....

This only applies to my 2008 Brute. Perhaps there were big changes between 2008 and 2012 (other than power steering), in which case, my post doesn't really apply. I will say though that the suspension on my Brute is just terrible. It's a fun bike with a ton of power, but on rugged trails (or even rutted rail beds) it's really hard on the body, especially the wrists. It also jumps around a lot when hitting bumps, enough that if you don't slow down you could literally get bounced right off the trail into the bush/ditch. The back end likes to jump around.

I also have a Can-Am XTP and the ride is night and day. It really is hard to go back to the Brute after riding the Can-Am. Perhaps they're not the same class of bike, but last year when I walked into the Kawasaki dealer in Kingston, I was quoted almost $12,000 for a new Brute. For a little more, I can get an Outlander XTP, which really does beat out the Brute in almost every category.

Maintenance cost is good with the Brutes, but if you get OEM parts from the Kawi dealership, prepare to be ripped off. I ordered 8 screws and bolts that hold the plastic on the bike. I was charged $80. The guy told me that's the price that Kawi sets so that's what he has to charge. I ended up buying some from Canadian Tire for less than $5.

For $9,000, I would probably look at a barely used Can-Am. I do like my Brute, but the suspension is really terrible and takes some of the fun out of riding.
