Coming up on 1700km's and 100hrs on the Brute. Belt is starting to squawk/chirp on hill decents when backing off throttle and engine brake kicks in. Does not do it continuously when going down a hill. Only one time at initial deceleration. Does not make any noise on acceleration, and there is never any power loss. Still pulls as strong as ever throughout at all speeds. Classic signs of Kawi belt deflection requiring adjustment correct?

Thanx Al. I'm taking it in this week for a check up.

Its probably getting to tight , and if they do need to adjust it , chances are when you get it back it will squeal abit (mine did) , but that goes away after a while and is normal , mine only did it if I was stopped and had it in gear ,take it out of gear and it stopped

I think I read on another forum that vforcejohn said a Kawi belt is perfectly adjusted if it squeals a bit as you have described. When I get mine back I'll post the results.

Just got my Brute back from the shop for it's 1700km / 100 hour check up. CVT was cleaned, lubed and deflection adjusted. Took it for a short rip in the lot. No more belt squawk on deceleration. Seems like it pulls even more now. Plugs were cleaned and Gaped, suspension lubed, frame and steering checked as per the book. What a nice machine.
